Welcome to the winter wonderland of the sunny and snow covered
southern Alps . Our resort is Super Devoluy situated just to the
south of Grenoble and west of Gap . Transfer is from Marseille Airport
at 15.00
allowing 2hrs 30 for the coach transfer to Super Devoluy. .Please note
that both Easyjet and BA operate good services now to Marseille. Transfers can also be arranged from the TGV Station in Avignon or Aix en Provence..The
resort has an excellent snow record and is set in a beautiful basin
surrounded by the impressive mountains of the Devoluy range . Also
there are over 100kms of downhill skiing and 50 kms of cross country
trails..

The snow shoeing is ideal for first timers as there are numerous
trails through the forests ,lovely hidden combs to explore
and a number of easy mountains to ascend .For the cross country
skier there is an excellent choice of well maintained ski
trails but also the opportunity to explore off the beaten
track .
| Our accommodation is in the Hotel Les Chardonnelles
only 5 minutes walk from the Ski resort itself . Rooms are either twin or double
bedded with bathrooms ensuite . |

| From the Hotel An excellent restaurant with large terrace
overlooking the ski slopes , a good bar and many other
facilities ensure that your stay here will be a very comfortable
one. The cross country skiing and the downhill
skiing start from the entrance
and excellent forest trails go off in all directions .A
major chair lift is 100m from the Hotel as well.
We will also explore deep into the hidden trackless forest
and wild valleys following the many animal tracks that
can be found here..chamois , deer ,white hare , fox etc
etc . |

We provide all the necessary equipment for activities
except downhill skiing
throughout the week so you can always have available what
you need when you need it . Although a full programme is available
we tend to offer mainly a morning guided programme thus leaving
the client free to either relax or ski or snowshoe at liberty
during the afternoons .If the idea of a day of downhill skiing
is attractive we will help you organise it although the costs
for this are not included in the price .There are over 100kms
of downhill runs in the resort by the way.

| So there you have it . A relaxed holiday with everything included,
all at a relaxed pace and ideal for the older outdoor client
who does not want to be organised throughout the day !.Please

Programme:
Saturday..Coach transfers from Marseille Airport at
3pm and 12.15pm. The latter during the school holidays.
Drive to our resort. Settle in at the hotel. .Briefing before , safety details
and sorting out equipment . Excellent 3 course dinner provided ,
drinks not included in the Price
| Sunday ..Am ..Introduction to snowshoeing techniques
on the trails in the forest by the hotel./Farmhouse PM. Fitting of cross
country ski kit . First gentle introductory lesson . Clients
with experience free to explore the same trail. |

Monday .AM . Guided ski tour on the tracks behind
the ski resort . Lovely views of the whole Devoluy Valley . return
for lunch . PM. Snowshoeing walk looking for animal tracks
higher up on the edge of the Devoluy Forest.

Tuesday.. A longer ski tour at the sister resort of
La Joue du Loup which includes a chance to try some descents
..always interesting with XC skis . Lunch at La Joue followed
by 5kms snow shoe walk back over the Col du Tat to Super D. |
Wednesday ..A free day when clients can select what
they would like to do on their own . Do leave time for a sauna at
the hotel afterwards followed by a cream cake and coffee tea in
one of the resort cafes.We can help arrange for a day of downhill
skiing . The day lift pass is about E25 but depends on age .ski
hire is from E20 per day .
Thursday..A super cross country tour of 5 kms which leads
from La Joue along the valley side to the Col du Festre for lunch,
some ups and downs add to the fun. The return is by the same route
. However if clients prefer to have a short circuit locally a vehicle
will collect them and return them to the hotel/chez Julia during the afternoon.

Friday.. A snow shoe exploration up into the wild hidden
valleys which form the base of the forbidding rock faces of
the Pic du Bure, 2709 m . Here we will cross the tracks of many
wild animals and should see groups of chamois feeding in the
sheltered spots.Depending on the weather we will either take
a picnic or return for a late lunch . Equipment will be collected
from clients before dinner . |
| Friday evening we hope to organise a local speciality
for dinner and then perhaps walk over to the resort for an entertaining
evening |

Saturday 9am ..Depart for Marseille for 12 noon arrival . If
the roads are snowed up we may have to leave earlier to ensure flights
Price in Hotel Chardonnelles.
E900..supplement of E80 for 13 to 27 Feb.
Includes full board less two lunches(Tues and
Thurs). Accommodation in 3* Hotel in twin /double rooms . Cross
country ski kit plus pass. Snowshoes and sticks. Transfers between
Marseille
and Super Devoluy. Guiding as described by qualified European Mountain
leader. Excluded are all downhill ski costs( although we do provide a
guiding service for the day ,) drinks with meals and entry to the
facilities in the resort itself.
Dates.2010.. Any weeks from the 10 January to the 4 April .. ...Please
book early for Feb half term and Easter. . Other dates available
for groups of minimum 6.
Personal equipment . Clients need to have the
following ..waterproof outer wear , jacket and trousers , preferably
breathable, thermal undergarments plus fleece, woollen hat or ski
cap with visor ,good quality walking or ski pants which allow snow
to be brushed off..track suit trousers are suitable for XC skiing
as long as extra pants are carried. Ski gloves or mitts, 2 prs ,
head band/ear protector useful . 25 to 35 kilo rucksack containing
plastic bags to protect clothing , spare warm jacket, sun creams
,lip salve, personal first aid kit (plasters, creams,aspirin etc
) A thermos and a water bottle are essential . A torch is also useful
just in case …also for coming back from the resort at night
.Francetrek can help with rucksacks if pre warned . Footwear for
snowshoeing must be good quality leather walking boots with a high
ankle . Snowgaiters are very useful as well. Boots can be hired
in the resort . Note that boots for the XC skiing are included in
the price
