E950 per person (min 4 people), includes bed and breakfast accommodation, plus 3 picnic lunches, and 3 evening meals, visits to the various sites, and transfers from Nice Airport. Drinks not included.

This one-week holiday is based in a delightful Hotel with pool situated above Nice in  Vence. All rooms have ensuites, with outdoor sitting area.

 

We combine lovely half-day walks with visits to museums, hilltop villages and including the famous Rothschild Villa at Jean-Cap-Ferat, especially tailored to your interests. Minimum of 4 persons.

Briefly, the week can include a combination of visits to the Renoir Studio and home, the Picasso Museum in Antibes, Matisse Chapel in Vence, Matisse Museum and the Musee des Beaux Arts in Nice, and the famous Villa and gardens of the Rothschilds’ in Jean-Cap-Ferat, plus walks to explore the Isles de Lerins, Sainte Marguerite, or Saint Honorat, from Cannes, the Cape of Antibes, the famous Baous hills behind Vence,  and more through the hinterland behind Nice with superb views to the sea.

Itinerary OVERVIEW

 

Saturday.. Clients are collected from Nice Airport from 4pm. A short drive takes us up into the hilkls and our delightful hotel in Vence.

Sunday .   .Cap Ferrat and the Rothschild Villa .

The morning walk is around  Cap Ferrat with glorious views over the sea We pass by the homes of the rich and famous en route. A picnic lunch is provided on the beach after the 3 hour walk..very leisuredly pace with lots of stops for photography. After lunch we visit the famous Rothschild Villa  museum and gallery. It was designed in the image of the great Renaissance buildings of Tuscany  and took 40 architects 7yrs to design and then build the villa.

Clients buy their own dinner this evening in Vence.

 

Monday . The Isle of St Marguerite just off the coast near Cannes  and the Picasso Museum in Antibes.

The walk this morning is around the Isle of St Marguerite . It is a beautiful walk of 2 to 3 hours. We  stay on the island for lunch depending on ferry times . In the afternoon a a visit is made to the Picasso Museum in Antibes. Plenty of time left afterwards to wander around Old Antibes before returning to Vence

Tuesday .Morning walk around the Cap Antibes with a picnic lunch . After lunch we drive to Cagnes Sur Mer for a visit to the famous Renoir Museum and atelier. Set in romantic gardens the museum has a real sense of the period when Renoir was painting here..a delight..
 
Wednesday..Clients are free to have a relaxing visit to Vence in the morning. In the afternoon we can arrange a visit to the new Classic Museum of  Art in beautiful Mougins. Mougins is well worth a visit on its own. Clients pay for this visit.
Thursday.An inland walk this morning on the hills or Baous behind Vence. Excellent views over the coast. In the afternoon a visit is arranged to the Chapel Matisse in Vence and also the Foundation Maeght in St Paul de Vence. St Paul is crammed full with art galleries and is an attractive village.

FridayA day in Nice. So much to see..we use the tourist 'Petit Train' to start with and then visit the Museum des Beaux Arts de Nice ..Dufy, Van Dongen etc etc. also the Museum of Modern Art is on the schedule. In addition there is the splendid market in the old Town, beautiful churches and , of course  the famous sea front ..the Promenade des Anglais. We may well stay in Nice for an early dinner if clients so wish.

Saturday. Depart for Nice Airport at 9.30am.
